Latest development on David Ferguson ‘s contract

The 29-year-old will enter his fifth season at Pools, having joined in August 2020 from York City. Since then, Ferguson has amassed 193 appearances in the blue and white, including 48 games last year.

The defender played a vital role as Pools were promoted to the Football League in 2021, earning a spot in the National League Team of the Year, and also played his part in the Club’s 2021/22 Emirates FA Cup run with a memorable third round goal against Blackpool.

Upon signing his new contract, Ferguson stated:

“I’m eager to stay here; I have no intention of moving anywhere. It feels like home now that I’m here. I’m glad to wear the blue and white and wish to embody every facet of the Club. I’m excited to carry on with my adventure because I enjoy performing here in front of the audience.”

Pools manager Darren Sarll commented:

“I find it incredibly encouraging and satisfying when current players pledge to stay with the team. Retaining a significant portion of the Club’s soul was very essential to me because when I close my eyes, I see players like Nicky Featherstone and David Ferguson from the recent, great Hartlepool squads. With the correct resources surrounding him, I think David can still go better next season. He has excellent experience and qualities that will fit in well with the new Hartlepool United. His knowledge of the Club will play a significant role in my quick acclimatization to the area and, most importantly, to all of you supporters. I am very excited to collaborate with players such as David.
