Boss reacts to vital Hearts acquisition

Jones is expected to be successful in his new position at Tynecastle because of his diverse skill set.

Steve Clarke, the manager of Scotland’s national team, stated that Graeme Jones, who is leaving Tynecastle, will leave a huge hole for the Scottish FA to fill. Jones was a “integral” part of Scotland’s recent success.

To make room for a move to Riccarton, the recently appointed sporting director of Hearts resigned this week from his role as performance director of the Scottish Football Association.

Jones, who spent the last nine years working in a variety of SFA capacities, takes over for Joe Savage in an overseeing capacity in Edinburgh. Having made a name for himself in the Hampden corridors, Jones will now take on an exciting opportunity at the club level.

Speaking on the eve of Scotland’s first-ever Nations League match at Hampden as a top-tier nation against Poland, Clarke acknowledged that Jones’ exit will be devastating to the SFA but expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in Gorgie.

He said, “I’m going to miss him a lot.” Since I started working there, he has been a crucial member of the staff. Clearly, Graeme was in that situation before I arrived. It was Alex McLeish who first placed him in that situation.

“To be honest, I don’t think it’s because of them; rather, we have always attempted to build and build, regardless of the circumstances. I believe it aids in our tournament qualification. The managers here give us a small increase in pay. It permits us to slightly overturn the boat.

“Graeme has contributed incredibly well. Career transitions happen to everyone. He needed to decide if he wanted to continue working for the association or try his hand at a club job. It’s his decision to do that. We hope the best for him. After this camp, he’ll be here for the next two anyway. We are appreciative of everything he accomplished.
