Celtic 0 Hearts 2 as set-pieces huge concern, title fight well on – 3 things we learned’

The Hoops have suffered back-to-back league defeats to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park and now the Jambos on their own turf as the title fight with Rangers takes another huge twist.

Celtic suffered a second league defeat on the trot as Hearts shocked the Scottish champions at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers’ men went into the game looking for a response domestically after a second half collapse at Rugby Park last weekend as Kilmarnock replied to Matt O’Riley’s first half opener with two goals in the second period to claim a big three points and make it a second defeat this season in Ayrshire. Midweek offered a response as the Hoops finally won in the Champions League by dumping Dutch giants Feyenoord but it was another blip in the league as the Jambos caused a major upset in Glasgow’s east end.

Set-pieces have been a major stumbling block for the Hoops this season, and it was a corner and free-kick that proved decisive, with Lawrence Shankland finding space at the back post to head past Joe Hart before Stephen Kingsley struck a magnificent free-kick for Steven Naismith’s side. Celtic stay five points clear of Rangers at the top, but the Light Blues now have TWO games in hand and control of their own destiny. In two weeks, the adversaries will square off in what will be a huge event. Here are three things we learnt from Parkhead in an afternoon that Rodgers and his troops will never forget.
