Lawrence Shankland’s alleged interest from the Rangers has been mocked by Andrew McKinlay, who maintains that no bids have been made.
Since the beginning of the year, Philippe Clement has been strongly linked to a move for the Jambos goal machine, but the Gers have not yet submitted any offers. This week, Scotland striker Shankland has also been linked to Glasgow rivals Celtic, but Hearts CEO McKinlay is optimistic that Shankland will stay at Tynecastle for at least one more season.
When asked about the constant rumours that the PFA Scotland Player of the Year would be moving to Ibrox, McKinlay responded to Hearts TV, asking if they were still being discussed. Yes, it’s incredible that Lawrence is being linked to the Rangers as we prepare to play them in the season’s opening game. However, from what I’ve seen this week, he’s also been linked to Celtic!
“Look, as of right now, we still haven’t received any offers. Not even a single note of inquiry or anything pertaining to Lawrence has reached us. Lawrence is a Hearts player as of right now, and as far as I’m concerned, he will stay a Hearts player until the right offer materialises. We have a lot of plans for Lawrence for the upcoming season, and I hope that continues.”
Shankland, who turns 29 later this month, has a contract that expires in the summer, and talks to extend it fell through in January. The former frontman for Dundee United and Ayr has promised never to treat the team disrespectfully, but he has also hinted that he will keep considering his options.
