Nick says on the transfer market in January after he confirmed yet another injury’

Nick Montgomery says that he will look to use the transfer market in January after he confirmed yet another injury in his Hibs ranks.

The Cabbage are on a decent run with three wins in their last six in the Scottish Premiership but were stunned with a loss on Wednesday night in the Edinburgh derby when Lawrence Shankland broke Hibs’ hearts with a superb finish in the 93rd minute of the game.

It leaves Hibs in sixth in the table, though they sit eight points behind their neighbours in the league and their quest to become the ‘best of the rest’ is slowly slipping away having just hit the halfway stage in the campaign. And Montgomery has admitted that midfielder Josh Campbell will be our for over a month with injury – and that he will be looking to utilise the window to bring in names ready for the here and now.

Montgomery began on Friday afternoon: “Unfortunately we’ll lose Lewis [Miller] and Martin [Boyle] for the Motherwell game as well as Rocky [Bushiri] and possibly Jojo Wollacott.

“We’re already pretty thin on the ground, and we add Josh Campbell to that who is potentially going to be out for four-plus weeks with a badly sprained ankle. It’s not great but it’s one game before the winter break so we have to get on with it.

“We are looking at possibilities but you’ve got to have the budget to bring the right players in. We don’t want to bring players in who are not going to make an immediate impact. We’re always on the lookout for players who can come in and help because right now we are light on bodies.

However, it is an opportunity for Rory Whittaker, Rudi Molotnikov, and Josh Landers.”
