David Kasumu, a midfielder for Huddersfield Town, claims that there is a “extra edge” going into today’s game against Leeds United.
The Whites, who are only the third team to accomplish so following Burnley last season and Aston Villa in 2018–19, are hoping to win ten straight league games when they travel a short distance across West Yorkshire.
Before the match this afternoon, André Breitenreiter, the new manager of Town, fueled the flames by declaring during his first press conference that the Terries are a bigger club in Germany than Leeds.
Given the outcome of their October meeting at Elland Road, Breitenreiter’s Huddersfield team will be more than prepared to lead him in his first home game as manager.
Huddersfield’s Kasmus recognised that Leeds is a “quality” team in an interview with Yorkshire Live on Thursday before the game, but he is prepared to battle for the three points.
“These kinds of games just have that little bit [of an] extra edge, because it’s a local derby,” the speaker stated. We’ll approach the game with the same confidence and tenacity as we would any other, hoping to win.
“They’ve been doing admirably this season, and everyone is aware of their abilities and contributions. Of sure, they have their advantages, but we can’t enter the game with fear for anyone. We’ll give it our all, and maybe we can score three points.
Leeds will undoubtedly be hoping for a similar outcome to the one at Elland Road, where they were thoroughly embarrassed 4-1 by an offensive trio consisting of Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, and Dan James.
But it is impossible to imagine Huddersfield lining up that way again, and since it is at home and they have a new manager, the game will probably be more harder this time.
Having said that, perhaps players like Rutter, Summerville, and company are feeling a little more rested after getting a little break in Chelsea during the FA Cup.
