Rather than focus on the negative aspects of the afternoon, Breitenreiter chose to highlight the hosts’ first-half performance.
“We have had really strong opposition in the last few games,” Breitenreiter stated.
Every opponent is challenging to play against. However, we have demonstrated that we can (maybe) defeat Leeds and West Brom, which is why I am really optimistic.
“We will see what happens with Rhys (Healey) and we have one week to heal and become better. We also have certain players back, perhaps including Radinio Balker, and some new players.
“We need to perform better the next week because we have a strong team and the ability to win games, as we demonstrated against Leeds and Watford especially in the first half.
“There are nine games left, so there is still a long way to go.
“We need to play as we did in the first half and avoid making as many simple errors as we did in the second.
“The first half was really good and we have to do this over 90 minutes.”
“I never had this feeling before,” the Albion manager said of his reunion at John Smith’s Stadium.
“Although you have many fond memories of this location, I came here fully intent on winning.
“We met our goal, but I also want the best for Huddersfield since it used to be my club and has special meaning for me.
They made a significant contribution. I shall always hold a very special place in my heart for (Jonathan) Hogg. He led the dressing room as captain as well as I could have asked for. In addition to helping me, Lee Nicholls, Tom Lees, Matty Pearson, Josh Koroma, and Sorba Thomas are still with me.
“I believe they will meet their goal of surviving in the Championship if they compete as they currently do.”
