According to TEAMtalk, Swansea City and Huddersfield Town, the reigning champions, are both considering a January transfer for Newport County forward Will Evans.
Evans, an English Football League footballer who can play both flank and attack, has been a revelation for Newport County this season. He became the first player from any of the 92 clubs in the league to achieve ten goals.
After 20 games in all competitions this season, the Welshman has 12 goals and 1 assist for the League Two team.
Due to his exceptional play, teams at higher levels of the football pyramid have taken notice of the 26-year-old and have urged for the former Wales C international to be called up to the senior Wales side.
Prior to the January transfer season, a number of League One teams were keeping a close eye on Evans. However, his performances have already attracted attention from Swansea and Huddersfield in the Championship.
Swansea has been keeping a close eye on Evans this season and is considering making a bid for the former Bala Town player in an effort to bolster their roster for the second half of the campaign.
With just 14 goals in their first 15 games, Huddersfield is the third-lowest scoring team in the Championship, and manager Darren Moore is searching the transfer market for reinforcements.
Huddersfield is in 21st place in the Championship with 15 points, four points clear of the relegation zone, and the Swans are in 14th place with 19 points, six points outside the playoff slots.
Evans’s contract at Newport expires in the summer of 2020, so when the transfer market reopens in the New Year, it could be difficult for them to turn down sizable bids for the adaptable attacker.
Graham Coughlan, the manager of Newport, encouraged Evans to secure a spot in his country’s squad after the youngster had an outstanding start to the season.
“Will Evans ought to have been included in the Welsh team.” In a September interview, Coughlan remarked, “I watched Wales [against South Korea] and I just don’t know what people are seeing, what people are thinking.”
“Will’s biggest obstacle is being consistent, putting in the same effort every week.” Everyone has heard about one-month marvels, and I have complete faith in Will to be able to sustain and continue it.
We just don’t know how far Will can go, but it’s a fantastic effort, adventure, and tale that all the young Welsh children and Welsh Premier League players should check out.
He is now attempting to gain a regular first team spot at Newport County and is also attempting to get called up for the Welsh senior international squad.
That’s an amazing narrative; it would be a fantastic story if Hollywood picked it up, but what really makes it stand out is how he continues it and takes it to new heights. We’ll all be sitting, waiting, and watching that one, and the first movie could even have a sequel.
After 16 games, Newport is eight points ahead of the drop zone’s Tranmere and Sutton, who make up the bottom two, in 20th place in League Two with 18 points.
