‘Just keep arriving between the posts, keep working hard and keep doing what he’s doing and these fans will love him.
Cobblers boss Jon Brady has heaped more praise on Tyreece Simpson after the striker impressed again during Monday’s 1-0 victory over Cheltenham Town.
From barely getting a look in just two weeks ago, the 21-year-old is a man transformed since scoring a stoppage-time winner in the home victory over Oxford United before Christmas. He was excellent against both Lincoln and Cheltenham and is winning back supporters who had lost faith.
“Tyreece led the queue so well yet again,” Brady remarked. “This isn’t rocket science.” These admirers will adore you if you run hard. At Lincoln the other night, his peak speed distances during the game were double the next highest player on our squad, demonstrating his dedication.
“It can be really difficult when you’re lacking confidence, but he’s turned it around through sheer hard work and effort, and to play the way he did against Cheltenham was brilliant again, and we’re so proud of him.”
“I’ve told him that I’ve never stopped believing in him because he has the ability, but it’s about putting in the effort and working hard week after week.” He may have a bad touch, lose the ball, or miss a chance, but if he keeps arriving between the posts, working hard, and doing what he’s doing, these supporters will love him.”
Simpson was named many people’s man of the match as the Cobblers defeated Cheltenham 1-0.
“We just have to reset and look ahead at the next five,” he said. “That was the final game of the five-game set, and we don’t look any further ahead than that.” That has served us well, and these are the behaviours by which we operate. We’re not going to look any further ahead.”
