Exeter City makes mouth watering bid for Hull City star.

Ryan Woods, a Hull City loanee, is someone Exeter City wants to “keep,” according to manager Gary Caldwell.

During the January transfer window, Exeter City made a quick move to acquire the midfield player on a contract that would last until the end of the current campaign.

The first half of this season was spent by 30-year-old Woods at Bristol Rovers, a League One team.

According to a DevonLive report, Caldwell stated, “We want to keep him next year.” Contractual issues and other factors need to be considered, but Ryan is aware of our appreciation for his contributions to the team and our thoughts for him.

Exeter City want Hull City midfielder

Woods still has one year left on his Hull contract, but he has been permitted to leave the MKM Stadium twice this season due to his lack of popularity there.

He was given a three-year contract by the Tigers in 2022, and in his rookie season, he made 27 appearances across all competitions.

He lost ground to players like Greg Docherty, Tyler Morton, Regan Slater, and Jean Michael Seri, though.

After joining the Gas in late August, Woods played 16 games for Bristol Rovers. Since switching to Exeter for the winter, he has played 11 games for the club.

The man, who was born in Staffordshire, has previously played for teams including Birmingham City, Brentford, Shrewsbury Town, Stoke City, and Millwall.

For the upcoming transfer window, it would be in everyone’s best interests to make a permanent move to Exeter. Hull would release him from their roster, and the Grecians will benefit from his quality in midfield for the upcoming campaign.

Woods’ time in East Yorkshire has not been fruitful, and severing his ties with Liam Rosenior this summer appears to be the most likely course of action.

The Tigers are planning a late push into the Championship play-offs in the interim. The last time they played away, they defeated Cardiff City 3-1. On Wednesday, they host Middlesbrough at home.
