Aaron Connolly’s injury from his January match against Norwich City has taken some time to heal, according to Hull City manager .
The goalie for the Canaries, Angus Gunn, clattered the striker for Hull City, injuring his shoulder and concussing him.
Since then, Connolly, 24, has seen a decline in playing time with the Championship promotion candidates as he attempts to re-establish himself on the squad.
According to a report by HullLive, Rosenior has given the following update on his health: “The injury that he had against Norwich was horrific. Yes, his shoulder was damaged, but actually, he had a long concussion for 10 days to two weeks. That sets anyone back, that’s a really, really difficult injury to overcome.
“We’ve had to give him time, we’ve had to give him time to build himself up and you can see he needed the game minutes (against Curacao). I can’t put him in games when we’re fighting for the play-offs and hope that he’s going to be OK.
“I need players that I can rely on, not through any fault of Aarons. It’s an injury that set him back, but I can’t just throw him in.”
Hull City injury latest
Hull has suffered a loss with Connolly’s injury because he offers them valuable competition and depth up front.
He has settled in at the MKM Stadium and has been given the opportunity by Rosenior, his manager, to demonstrate his abilities. But there are doubts about his long-term plans in East Yorkshire.
When he signed a one-year contract to become a permanent member of the Tigers last year, the forward only had a one-year contract; it is unclear if he will receive an extension.
During the previous season, Connolly was on loan at Hull, where he scored two goals in five appearances. Since then, he has discovered the net eight times this term.
Nine caps later, the Republic of Ireland international played for Brighton and Hove Albion for seven years before moving on to his current club.
In addition to his brief stints away from the AMEX Stadium at Luton Town, Middlesbrough, and Venezia to gain experience, he scored eight goals in 52 games for the Seagulls.
Connolly will have benefited from playing all ninety minutes for the Tigers in last week’s friendly against Curacao.
After two weeks off, Hull returns to action on Friday when they host Stoke City at home. On Monday, they have an away trip to Leeds United.
