An explosive competitor to Hull FC starlet……

Featherstone Rovers have swooped to sign released Hull FC starlet Connor Wynne ahead of 2024 as James Ford’s rebuild at Post Office Road continues.

Rovers lost to the London Broncos in the play-off semi-finals at home, and as a result, no fewer than 17 players left the team. Rovers had also failed in their attempt to get promoted to the Super League.

Even though chairman Mark Campbell acknowledged that in the IMG age, it will be difficult for them to advance no matter what happens on the pitch, Super League talent is still being gathered in preparation for the upcoming season.

Danny Addy from Salford Red Devils and Ben Reynolds from Leigh Leopards were brought in together; Featherstone is a boyhood club for both players.

Greg Minikin of Warrington Wolves was also brought in, while Wynne, a 22-year-old back, was the most recent addition at Post Office Road early this evening.

Hull FC prodigy Connor Wynne, who was released, is signed by Featherstone Rovers.

A local boy and graduate of the FC youth, Wynne made his senior debut for Hull against Salford in 2019. He has gone on to make 36 appearances for the Black and Whites over the past four years, scoring 14 tries during that time.

He has also participated in League 1 and the Championship while on loan at Doncaster, York, Newcastle Thunder, and Bradford Bulls throughout those four years. Both of his brief engagements with the latter pair occurred this year.

Wynne, who played for Ford at York, signed a contract with Featherstone and stated on the Rovers’ official website, “I’m really happy to be joining Featherstone.”

“I’ve previously collaborated with Fordy, and I’m eager to get started and contribute to what promises to be an exciting season.”

“I’m thrilled to bring Connor to Featherstone,” Ford continued. He’s someone I’ve worked with previously, so I know he’ll thrive here, reach his full potential, and give our fans something to shout about.

“He’s a fierce competitor who has had some incredible Super League moments.”
