Hull FC will be without Jack Ashworth, Ligi Sao, and Cam Scott for several weeks. The Black and Whites trio all picked up injuries in last week’s defeat to Warrington Wolves and will now spend a significant period in recovery.
Ashworth injured his ankle ligaments in the second half of the Wire clash, with Hull Live understanding the prop has had surgery this week. He will be out for around a couple of months as he recovers and then starts his rehab process.
Similarly, Scott has suffered a hamstring tear and could also be missing the next several weeks. The centre, who has doubled up as a back rower this season, left the field in the first half.
Sao, meanwhile, has yet to see a specialist regarding his persistent problems. The forward will now try to heal himself before taking the field again after experiencing some issues with his ankle and knee.
The trio are now added to the list of injured players, which also includes Danny Houghton (ribs), Joe Cator (back), Mitieli Vulikjapani (ACL), Nick Staveley (ACL), Charlie Severs (shoulder), and Cobie Wainhouse (ACL). Simon Grix is expected to make some changes for Hull’s upcoming Super League match against Salford Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.
They have a like-for-like replacement for Scott in Jed Cartwright. The back rower is expected to debut next week after being given extra time to settle into training and life in the UK following his flight from Australia.
Elsewhere, Will Gardiner is set to keep his place after a strong showing, while Grix could call on more of the club’s rising young talents, with Zach Jebson and Matty Laidlaw two options. On loan Wigan Warriors forward Tiaki Chan will also likely come back into the side after missing the Warrington game.
