Hull FC target loan move for Franklin Pele as Championship club lined up

Hull FC are working on another loan move that would see Franklin Pele spend some time in the Championship with York Knights. Hull Live understands that the club are keen for the prop to get some substantial minutes at a good level, and are hoping to get a short term deal done in the near future.

Pele has made eight appearances for Hull’s first-team this season and has also turned out for the reserves on one occasion. He has missed four games through suspension this season, but has played the last five outings, with the last three seeing him come off the bench.

It’s hoped that a brief move to the sport’s second tier will pick up Pele’s confidence, but most importantly, get him some bigger stints at a senior standard. He played sixty or so minutes for the reserves in a two-try showing at Warrington Wolves earlier this month, but saw around half of that time on the field in Sunday’s Super League defeat at London Broncos.

Pele would become the third new recruit to go out on loan in as many weeks if the deal is finalised. The other two, Jayden Okunbor and Liam Tindall, are presently on short-term loans at Bradford Bulls and are expected to play in this weekend’s Championship game against Sheffield Eagles.

On Sunday, York will play the Halifax Panthers; assuming Pele’s transfer is finalised in time, he might get a play. This weekend, Hull’s reserves will play a match against London at YPI on Chanterlands Avenue. This year, the club has shifted all of its remaining academy and reserve games to the grass pitch location.
