Two Hull City stars at risk of suspension heading into Rotherham United

Hull City will not want to lose two of their key players with a suspension only one booking away

There are two games remaining before the yellow card amnesty begins, meaning that Jean Michael Seri and Liam Delap might both be facing a one-match suspension.

The Hull City pair are now on four yellow cards for the season. If they receive a warning on Tuesday night, either against Rotherham or Watford, both at the MKM Stadium, they will be suspended for one game.

The cut-off point comes after the end of the 19th game which is at the end of City’s home clash with the Hornets on Saturday and they’ll be acutely aware of the possible danger.

Head coach of City Liam Rosenior said that he substituted Delap late in the game against Swansea on Saturday because he was well aware of his striker’s fatigue and the potential for a late booking.

After Saturday’s amnesty ends, there will be ten games left on the booking total before a suspension begins. The deadline for that is following the 37th game, in this case the Tigers’ matchup with Leicester City at the MKM Stadium on March 9, 2024.

After receiving five yellow cards this season, Jacob Greaves has already served one game-long suspension. On Saturday, he received his sixth yellow card as City rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Swansea.

Elsewhere, Jaden Philogene, Aaron Connolly and Adama Traore all sit on three yellows while the likes of Lewie Coyle, Scott Twine, Tyler Morton, Alfie Jones and Jason Lokilo are safely perched on two each

A player will receive a three-match suspension if they receive 15 yellow cards in 46 games, and a regulatory committee will determine the punishment for those who receive 20 or more yellow cards.

Rebecca Welch will take command of a City game in the Championship on Tuesday night, making history as the first female official in the process.
