Goole Vikings confirm another Hull FC youngster moved

The new League 1 club have signed their 15th player.

Jeylan Hodgson, another former Hull FC academy player, has joined the Goole Vikings. The 19-year-old is the seventh player with ties to the Black and Whites and the club’s fifteenth new recruit ahead of their first League 1 season.

In addition to Callum Rutland, Reece Dean, Jack Aldous, and Jamie Shaul, he joins fellow Hull-born players Lennon Bursell and Mackenzie Harman.

Before joining the first team this season, Hodgson played for the reserves after a year in the Hull academy. After a brief Championship run with Doncaster, he will now try his luck at the East Yorkshire club. He has also played in Australia.
Hodgson declared, “I’m really excited to join the Vikings.” “It’s fantastic to be a part of the club’s project, which appears to be very exciting and promising. About a month ago, I had a meeting with Scott (Taylor) and Clarky (James Clark) to hear the specifics of their plans, and it was just amazing.

“Being able to play a role in the future of the club and actually feeling like I’m part of something is what persuaded me the most to join the club.”

He went on to say: “I’d like to think I can be an aggressive and confident defender as well as fast from the spot in attack, and I am focused on providing the best service I can.”

Meanwhile, Taylor believes Hodgson has all the attributes to be an ‘effective’ dummy-half. He added: “Like a lot of the young players we have signed, Jeylan is someone we have identified with a really high ceiling to his potential and the right attitude and professionalism to hopefully reach that.

“Our aim is to work with him to help him realise that talent and his career ambitions, which we are in no doubt he can achieve with plenty of hard work. His experience in Australia and since returning to Hull has stood him in great stead, it has given him a taste of what to expect moving forward.
