War raised after Hull FC takeover confirmed

Two prosperous Yorkshire businessmen have successfully taken over Hull FC.

In November, Andrew Thirkill and David Hood reached an agreement to purchase the Airlie Birds from Adam Pearson.

Hood is the chairman of the private aviation company Multiflight at Leeds Bradford Airport and was a co-founder of Pace PLC. Thirkill is the chairman of Age Partnership and Pure Retirement.

Hood will join the board after the takeover, and Thirkill will take over as chairman of Hull FC.

Adam Pearson stated: “I am delighted to report that I am entrusting the custodianship of this outstanding club to Andrew Thirkill and David Hood OBE, two responsible and deserving individuals, today. I consider myself extremely lucky that they agreed to assume responsibility for the club’s future security and development.

“Both have been the perfect buyers, as demonstrated by a courteous and private handover procedure that I’m happy to report is now complete.

It should be acknowledged that in addition to committing to provide large quantities of money to the club, the new shareholders have also committed to refraining from receiving any funds from it for a minimum of three years, including no management fees, wages,

I am so happy to announce that, as of right now, every penny that enters our club will be used directly to support it, enabling us to make additional investments in our playing squad. As we strive to rebuild, the club is in a very fortunate situation.

The transaction received buy-side legal guidance from a group at the law firm Brabners, headed by partner Dan McCormack.
