Hull KR brutal response to violence eruption

As a show of support for their supporters, Hull KR, the league leaders, released a statement on Saturday “strongly condemning” the events that transpired in the city centre.

Their statement followed that of Hull FC, their cross-city rivals, who had responded to far-right protests in the city centre that had descended into violent and vandalised incidents, with a statement of their own.

Across the nation, a number of purported “protests” had been planned in response to the horrific deaths of three young girls in Southport last Monday.

But instead, it seemed like these demonstrations were just a pretext for the racist far right to carry out acts of violence and destruction.

Hull KR and Hull FC have now both denounced the incidents and made a statement opposing “racist, violence, and vandalism.”

Because of the ongoing protests, Hull FC supporters were advised on Saturday to stay away from the city centre when departing the MKM Stadium.

Hull KR condemn riots in city centre

Hull KR denounced the scenes in a statement posted on their club website and social media.

“Hull City Centre witnessed scenes yesterday and overnight that Hull KR strongly condemns.

“We are praying for all those impacted, especially the neighbourhood companies that will be unable to operate until the repairs are finished.

We are extremely proud of our wonderful city and all that it represents.

We want to remind everyone that Hull KR is a welcoming community and that racism, violence, and vandalism will never be tolerated.

“The outpouring of support from numerous locals who participated in the cleanup this morning is incredibly touching and a more accurate depiction of our wonderful people.

We express our gratitude to all emergency and citywide services that contributed to the protection of our community.
