Hull KR face England football kick-off clash with Sky’s stance made clear

Euros fever has hit the country, with the knockout stages of the competition set to begin this weekend. England will be in action, with Gareth Southgate’s men taking on Slovakia with qualification to the quarter finals as the prize.

Despite an insipid string of performances, the Three Lions advanced as group winners and as a result, there is a potential kick-off clash with Hull KR next week. If England make the last eight, they will play on Saturday, July 6th, kicking off at 5 PM against the winners of Italy and Switzerland.

But at the same time, the Robins are set to be in action in an important Super League game against Catalans Dragons, which is due to start at 5:30 PM. Many would have expected the kick-off time of the game to be changed, however, that isn’t going to be the case.

It has been confirmed to Rugby League Live that the Super League game will kick-off at 5:30, regardless of whether England are in action or not. Rovers are unable to change the kick-off due to broadcast commitments to Sky, who logistically are unable to move the slot any earlier to accommodate viewers from home or at Craven Park who may want to watch both matches.

That said, given England’s rather uninspiring campaign, many may see Rovers’ game as a strong alternative, with the club receiving outstanding support throughout the season. They have had home sellouts throughout the campaign, aided by the team’s excellent performances at Craven Park. Rovers have lost just once on home soil so far this season.
