Hull KR star bold Robins message

Despite leading the Super League standings, Hull KR has yet to claim a victory. Talisman half-back Mikey Lewis, who gave one of the best individual performances of the season on Friday night at Halliwell Jones Stadium against Warrington Wolves, conveyed this calm message.

Rovers defeated the Wire 22-4 to go ahead of Wigan Warriors in the standings after Lewis scored a try and assisted on another. The England international’s defensive efforts were also appreciated; Lewis in particular went above and beyond to help the East Hull team cross the finish line in a well-earned and commanding victory.

With seven rounds of competition left, it’s safe to say that Willie Peters’ team is in a great position to go towards winning silverware this season, with a Grand Final victory being the ultimate objective. Of course, Rovers must arrive first, and Lewis, who at 23 continually demonstrates maturity beyond his years, is aware that his team still has a lot of work ahead of them in the upcoming weeks.

Following the game, Lewis told Sky Sports, “We haven’t won anything tonight.” “We need to work hard for the next seven or eight weeks, and we can’t plan too far ahead.

We must accept each game as it comes, and what will be will be. We sense that when things get tough on the pitch because of the incredible crowd that has returned.

“We haven’t won anything yet, but it feels good to be at the top. We need to stay there and play well every time. We’re anticipating it and watching it closely.

He continued, “We’re a defensive team and we want to put our defence first,” in reference to Rovers’ outstanding defensive performance against the Wolves. The players on this team have the ability to ignite, and we did just that. We seized the chance because we had faith in the system.

Lewis dominated the highly publicised pre-match battle between him and George Williams, and it’s safe to say that he was the most impressive player on the pitch against Warrington. He produced five attacking kicks, three tackle busts, a clean break and 23 tackles himself.

The Hull KR player remarked, “I didn’t put much pressure on it because I know how good George is.” “It feels nice, but we still haven’t achieved anything, and the conflict with George will rage for years to come. I enjoy competing with George.
