Hull KR star Ryan Hall’s first words after breaking Super League try record

The 36-year-old scored two tries in Hull KR‘s 32-6 win over Huddersfield Giants at Sewell Group Craven Park on Friday night to break the Super League record, which was held by his former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Danny McGuire for a number of years.

Having failed to score in his previous four games, Hall had to wait patiently for his moment of brilliance. However, his Hull KR colleagues were there to share in the celebration on Friday night when he went over for his brace in a night that will go down in Super League history.

The veteran England player now holds the top spot on the Super League’s all-time try scoring charts with 42 caps won for both Great Britain and England. After breaking the record, Hall commented to Sky Sports, “It’s really pleasing, I didn’t want to make too much of it!”

“I’m incredibly happy with what I’ve accomplished. Try-scoring is typically associated with wingers, so I’m happy to have reached that position after playing there for a while. It’s similar to busses, isn’t it? It was a long time coming; it took me a very long time to get there. I’m happy I made it there at last.

Hall has scored 56 tries in 91 appearances for Hull KR since arriving at the club ahead of the 2021 season following two years in the NRL with Sydney Roosters.

Prior to his stint Down Under, Hall spent 12 seasons in the Leeds Rhinos first team, scoring 233 tries in 330 games for the West Yorkshire club, which he will return to in 2025.

Hall has a remarkable try scoring record on the international stage, too. He has scored 39 tries in 40 appearances for England whilst winning two caps for Great Britain in 2019.
