NHL club plans to assign struggling goalie to AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif.
Jack Campbell, a failing goalie, has been placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers, who want to assign him to their American Hockey League club.
In five appearances this season, Campbell has a record of 1–4 with a 4.50 goals-against average and a.873 save percentage.
The 31-year-old goalie from Port Huron, Michigan, signed a five-year, $25 million US contract with Edmonton on July 13, 2022. Since then, he has a 22-13-4 record with a 3.53 GAA and.886 save percentage.
With Campbell expected to be sent to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, Stuart Skinner will be Edmonton’s obvious top goalie, assuming he clears waivers.

However, Skinner has also had difficulty in 2023–24, recording a 1-4–1 record, 3.99 GAA, and a.856 save % in seven games.
Monday night’s 6-2 setback to Vancouver saw Skinner start in net for Edmonton, giving up six goals on thirty-six shots.
With a 2-8-1 record, the Oilers are only one game ahead of San Jose in the Western Conference and currently hold the second-last spot.
On Thursday, the Sharks, who were without a win going into their match against Philadelphia on Tuesday, will play home to the Oilers.
