Anthony Leal, an Indiana guard, recently discovered a new menu item at Mother Bear’s Pizza in Bloomington, Indiana.
As the 2023–24 men’s basketball season draws near, Indiana basketball player Anthony Leal has inked a new non-exclusive lease with a nearby Bloomington restaurant.
Leal, a Hoosier guard, revealed on his Instagram page that he and Bloomington’s Mother Bear’s Pizza collaborated to create a new menu item that bears his name and is currently offered.
“I’ve been coming to Mother Bear’s Pizza my whole life, and now I’m excited to announce my very own menu item, The Leal Deal!” Leal posted on Instagram. 10 boneless wings (sauced to your preference) and an order of @motherbears_pizza’s irresistible Cheesy Bread are included in the Leal Deal. Mother Bear’s Pizza has two locations in Bloomington, one near campus and one the west side of town. Mother Bear’s opened in 1973 and per its web site it was named one of People Magazine “top nine pizzas” in America.
Leal joined the Indiana program in 2020–21 and has played for them for three seasons. He played almost 11 minutes a game on average in his first two seasons. He only participated in 11 games and averaged just 2.1 minutes per game the previous season.
Still, he’s got influence here. Leal attended Bloomington South High School, where he was voted Mr. Basketball in Indiana. After graduating from high school, Rivals.com ranked him 127th nationally. With a school record 1,620 points at the end of his prep career, he was named to the First Team All-State, an Indiana All-Star, and the Bloomington Herald Times Player of the Year in his final year of competition. During that season, he averaged 18.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
