We are fast approaching the final games of the regular season, with it still to be decided who will earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Leicester City, Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Southampton are all still in contention for a top two spot.
However, the Whites’ dreams of returning to the top division were dashed on Tuesday night as they drew 0-0 with Sunderland and Leicester fell 1-0 on the road against Millwall.
Leeds and Ipswich are now separated by a draw at Elland Road, but if the Tractor Boys defeat Watford on Wednesday night, they will have the opportunity to pass both of the top two teams.
Murphy makes Leeds United nerves claim
Murphy felt that they have to win their home game against Sunderland, and he thinks that jitters are beginning to show at Elland Road.
The former midfield player brought attention to the Black Cats’ recent difficulties, as Mike Dodds’ team has only triumphed in one of their previous eleven league games.
Remarking on Leeds’ draw, Murphy stated on Talksport’s YouTube channel.
That truly demonstrates some anxiety considering how poorly Sunderland has been playing.
“You were expecting them to win that game.”
Murphy continued by saying that because Ipswich exceeded their pre-season projections and had nothing to lose, they ought to be the favourites for a top-two finish.
“Leicester doesn’t seem to be playing poorly, but there might also be some nervousness there,” he continued.
It is unavoidable.
“Ipswich should be given a lot of credit for rising from League One to a position where they can advance if they win their remaining games.
“You have to root for Ipswich because they don’t have as much pressure.”
“There’s a great deal of anxiety in the way Leicester and Leeds play; they both want to win back.”
