Ipswich Town transfer latest: Battle for German forward and all exclusive transfer update’

Ipswich Town has been in faltering form in the Championship recently, with Kieran McKenna’s side’s large lead over Southampton and Leeds United being dramatically reduced in recent weeks.

The Saints’ record-equalling 4-0 victory in their 3PM kick-off against Sheffield Wednesday put all the pressure on Ipswich ahead of their clash with play-off hopefuls Sunderland, but the Tractor Boys responded after an early Jack Clarke strike to win the game 2-1, recording their first league success since December 12th.

While returning to winning ways has undoubtedly been McKenna’s first focus in recent days, the Northern Irishman has also had to deal with the transfer market, which has already seen him sign Jeremy Sarmiento and Lewis Travis on loan.

With that in mind, FLW gathers up the most recent transfer rumours to appear in Suffolk.

Ipswich Town hit stumbling block in Sam Gallagher pursuit

After signing Blackburn Rovers captain Travis on a temporary basis, the Tractor Boys are now looking for Sam Gallagher.

However, Alan Nixon indicated on Patreon on Sunday morning that Town may find some stumbling blocks in their pursuit of the former Southampton forward.

PA reporter Nick Mashiter reported earlier this week that Rovers had rejected two bids from Ipswich (£1 million and £1.5 million), and now Nixon claims that meeting Gallagher’s salary may be a problem down the line, as Sunderland are also interested in the man who has only appeared six times for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side this season.

Ipswich face West Brom battle for German forward

Given George Hirst’s absence, it is evident that attacking reinforcements are Ipswich’s primary objective in their ongoing promotion chase with Leicester, Leeds, and Southampton.

However, they will face competition from other promotion aspirants West Bromwich Albion, as both teams have recruited Hertha Berlin forward Derry Scherhant, reports FootballInsider.

The 21-year-old has also been on Blackburn’s radar most recently, with the Blues seeing three loan bids refused down by the 2.Bundesliga outfit.

Scherhant has appeared 13 times in Hertha’s first squad this season, scoring one goal, and has scored five goals in five games for the club’s B team, which competes in the Regionalliga Northeast. He can play as a centre forward or wide man.

No money from either team has yet to be touted, although it might be a large one given that the prospect is under contract at the Olympiastadion until the summer of 2027

The latest in Ipswich Town’s pursuit of Jay Stansfield

Ipswich Town’s pursuit of current Birmingham City loanee Jay Stansfield has been a long-running transfer saga.

Despite Birmingham’s previous head coach Wayne Rooney claiming that a recall clause was inserted into the deal to bring Stansfield to St Andrew’s from Fulham, Birmingham World reports that the 21-year-old is content in the Second City for the time being, which would have come as a blow to Ipswich fans.

The recall clause’s expiry date has not yet been published, but such developments between the three parties appear to be ongoing.

Stansfield has seven goals and two assists in 24 Championship games this season, one of which came in Birmingham’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich on November 4th.
