Stephen Kenny has made three changes to the team that struggled against Greece on Friday for Ireland’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Gibraltar tonight. Nathan Collins has been left off the roster.
Collins was taken off the field at halftime of the 2-0 loss due to his poor performance, and Kenny elected to switch Liam Scales to center back and insert Ryan Manning as a left back off the bench. Since Scales is a left-footed center back, the management has chosen to open the match against the Group B underdogs with that lineup. Scales was mentioned yesterday.
In addition to that alteration, Mikey Johnston and Jamie McGrath have been inserted into the lineup in lieu of Alan Browne and Will Smallbone in the midfield. In a move that should see Jason Knight take up Browne’s central position, Johnston will move to the left side of midfield in place of McGrath, who is expected to play as the number ten.
Bazunu, Doherty, Duffy, Scales, Manning; Cullen, Knight; Ogbene, McGrath, Johnston; Ferguson make up Ireland’s starting lineup.
