Thorns to open 2024 season at Kansas City date review’

Portland: The league revealed on Thursday that the Portland Thorns will take on Kansas City Current on Saturday, March 16, in the opening match of the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League.

ABC will air the opening match at 10 a.m.

The following Sunday, March 24, the Thorns will play their home opener at Providence Park against NY/NJ Gotham FC. ESPN2 will broadcast the game at 4 p.m.

The last regular-season game, which will take place at Providence Park on November 1 against Angel City, will feature 26 games with Portland playing each team twice—once at home and once away.

Under the new postseason structure for the league, eight clubs will advance to the quarterfinal round, which is scheduled for November 9–10. The NWSL Championship is scheduled for November 23rd, and the semifinal round will begin the weekend of November 16–17.

The 2024 campaign marks the beginning of the league’s landmark four-year domestic media rights agreements with CBS Sports, ESPN, Prime Video and Scripps Sports on ION Network, that will see 121 matches, including 113 regular season contests, all seven playoff fixtures and the 2024 NWSL Challenge Cup, featured on national platforms throughout the season.

Portland will have three matches on CBS, with an additional two on CBS Sports Network, as well as five matches streaming on Prime Video, and nine on Scripps Sports.
