Kilmarnock skipper issues apology to fans after exit*

The striker acknowledged that their cup loss to Aberdeen was difficult to accept, but their Premiership top six bid is now the centre of attention.
Following their Scottish Cup elimination, Kyle Vassell, the captain of Kilmarnock, apologised to the supporters and promised not to let it affect their league performance.

The Rugby Park men lost 3-1 at Pittodrie over the weekend, putting up perhaps their worst performance of the season and eliminating them from the cup at the quarterfinal round.

But the big games come thick and fast. On Saturday, they play St Mirren in the SPFL Premiership, and they know that a win would put them back in fourth place and bolster their chances of qualifying for Europe’s football competition.
Vassell, who set up Danny Armstrong for Killie’s goal against Aberdeen, is primarily focused on getting his team into the top six and believes that a victory over the Buddies will put them in a great position to accomplish so.

It’s bittersweet for me since I wanted to lead the boys out at Hampden,” he remarked. We are sorry to the fantastic fans that attended and gave it their all; we know it was a painful experience for them.

“We had setback goals, and it was difficult to accept the way they had been handled—deflections and all. But we can’t think about it for too long since we have a big game coming up on Saturday.
“We need to prioritise making the top six, but we also can’t look too far ahead,” he continued. Our primary goal is to place in the top six, after which you can consider Europe.

Will this outcome excite us? No, I don’t think so; nothing changes.
