A KILWINNING student has been named Scotland’s winner in the vocational category at the British Education Awards.
Lisa was the only student from Scotland to be acknowledged at this year’s awards ceremony, which had nominations from every country in the UK for every level of education.
She played a key role in directing a range of inclusive groups under the college’s Sport and Fitness department’s Connecting Communities initiative.
Lisa declared: “Winning this award makes me feel so proud.”
“I’m thrilled that my academic performance and work ethic have been acknowledged. My time as an Ayrshire College student was quite enjoyable.
Together with curriculum manager John McTaggart, my instructors Tony Adgent, David Dougan, and Stephen Leckey went above and beyond to provide me more than enough help and encouragement to pass the course.
With great pride, I look back on my work at Ayrshire College and hope that I have improved someone else’s health and well-being.
“I’m looking forward to a future career which incorporates health and fitness.”
She was a key player in the first-ever #Walk4Lionheart, a 13-mile walk connecting the Kilwinning and Kilmarnock campuses.
Three local organisations benefited from the initiative’s fundraising efforts: Megan’s Space, the Kris Boyd Charity, and Beautiful Inside and Out.
The event’s outreach, which included 300 walkers and was broadcast on Sky Sports News, aims to increase mental health support.
She also made contributions to the #BeAwesomeBeActive Older Adult group and participated in the Rose Reilly Football Academy, which provided free football coaching sessions for young girls in Ayrshire.
In an effort to alleviate social isolation and promote friendships, the latter offered senior residents of the Ayrshire village free, one-on-one personal training sessions.
