Bus firm Stagecoach say there will be improved reliability and punctuality across more than 40 services.
Bus services across Ayrshire and the West are set to change in the New Year, providing new routes and higher frequency services to meet demand.
Following a review on the existing bus network, Stagecoach West Scotland will be updating and improving links to local health care, education, and retail facilities from January 2024.
As part of the bus firm’s review, the X77 between Ayr and Glasgow will increase to operate every 20 minutes and later 1am buses from Glasgow on Friday and Saturday night will be reintroduced.
Express services between Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Dumfries will also benefit from late night services. Customers travelling locally will benefit from later bus services after 6pm and on a Sunday.
And a new route extension to University Hospital Ayr will boost vital links to healthcare and employment, while a new frequent bus service will connect beachfront residents to Ayr town centre.
“We’re also increasing frequency and introducing evening services where we have seen demand.”
Stagecoach West Scotland and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport are working together to update bus stop information along routes as quickly as possible with the new changes.
Due to the size of the geographical area to be updated, Stagecoach encourages customers to use the Stagecoach Bus App to plan their journey while they work to complete bus stop updates.
