Designers Rooms clarify Kilmarnock car park takeover*

Furniture bosses say shoppers can still pay to use the car park outside its store.

Kilmarnock shoppers will still be allowed to use Designer Rooms’ town centre parking lot, according to company officials.

It follows the confirmation by East Ayrshire Council that the area outside the new flagship store will only be accessible to patrons of the furniture company.

Executives at Designer Rooms have now stated that customers can continue to park on Queen Street (South), with prices matching those of the Marks & Spencer lot.

Designer Rooms patrons will be able to validate their parking within the store for free.

“I want to clarify that the car park can be used by anyone and it will be charged at the same rate of £1 per hour as the car park next to Marks & Spencer,” a Designer Rooms spokeswoman stated.

“You will however be able to verify your parking inside The Designer Rooms new store in order to get free parking.”

As we previously reported, barriers have already been installed at the Fowlds Street store in anticipation of the transition to private management of one of the largest parking lots in the town.

The largest Designer Rooms in Scotland are expected to open for business in the summer, and the barrier will be in place starting on March 1.
