East Ayrshire Christmas bin collection dates unveiled ahead of festive period:

Some residents’ bin days will be changing.

The majority of collections will remain the same but Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the first two days of the New year will see some changes for locals.

Rubbish set to be collected on Christmas Day (Monday, December 25) will be emptied on Saturday, December 23.

Collections that were scheduled for Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26) will take place on Sunday, December 24 (Christmas Eve).

New Year’s Day (Monday, January 1) collections won’t take place and instead will be on Saturday, December 30.

Rubbish set to be collected on Tuesday, January 2 will now be emptied on Sunday, January 31.

East Ayrshire Council state: “As collection times vary during the festive season, containers should be presented for collection the night before uplift or by 6:30am.

“As the recycling trolley is a weekly uplift service, should your recycling trolley not be presented in time, materials should be stored until the next week, or can be taken to the nearest recycling centre or recycling point.”

Council bosses say that up to three additional refuse sacks will be uplifted per household on the first landfill waste (green/grey bin) collection following Christmas Day. This should be placed alongside the bin at the kerbside.

Excess paper and cardboard stored in plastic sacks and placed beside the recycling trolley will be collected, as will larger flat packed cardboard.
