The former Aulds the Bakers store in Kilmarnock looks set to be transformed, if plans are approved.
The Scottish bakery firm closed its Burns Mall outlet in August 2018 and has been vacant ever since.
Now the prime town centre shop could be occupied once again, providing East Ayrshire Council planners approve of blueprints.
And the unit could host bookmakers Ladbrokes if a proposal to change the use of the shop is given the green light.
The applicant proposes that if plans are approved that the existing Ladbrokes will relocate to the site from nearby Croft Street.
Bosses say the existing shop is “cramped” and does not meet the standards of comfort expected by customers and employees.
“The proposed new unit would operate under Ladbrokes digi-hub concept, which offers a high quality fit out and fully digitised betting services.”
Digi hubs aim to provide contemporary, digital-first spaces and are fitted with more digital touch points, best-in-class sports betting and gaming terminals, and interactive displays, providing more dynamic content and experiences for customers.
