A man has died in hospital a week after suffering serious injuries during an alleged attempted murder at a home in Ayrshire.
A man was taken to the hospital for treatment to injuries following the attack in a property at McPhail Drive in Kilmarnock at around 8.10am on Saturday, June 22.
The 39-year-old was receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, but medical staff were unable to save him and he passed away .
A 38-year-old man has since been arrested and charged over the incident.
He appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Police Scotland said enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended at MacPhail Drive in Kilmarnock at around 8.10am on Saturday, June 22, after a report of a 39-year-old man having sustained serious injuries.
“The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
“A 38 year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, June 16.
“The 39-year-old man subsequently died in hospital on Saturday, June 22. Further enquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal
