Kilmarnock woman devastated after being attacked in the early hours of the day

The 24 year-old was walking along Bonnyton Road towards Munro Avenue around 12.10am on Saturday 6th July. She was approached by a man who tried to talk to her, and as she reached the railway bridge he assaulted her.

The suspect is described as eastern European, in his mid 20s, around 5ft 8 and spoke in broken English. He left the area on a push bike towards Warwickhill Road.

Detective Inspector Stuart Dougan said: “The woman was not seriously injured during this incident but has understandably been left very shaken by what happened. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or who saw a man matching this description on a bike to please come forward if you have not already.

“If you live in the area and have a dash cam or CCTV, please check back to see if there is any footage that can help with our inquiries. You can submit information by giving us a call at 101 and mentioning the 6th July reference number .

“I want to tell the public that we think this is a unique event and that we are making every effort to find the man who did it. Over the next few days, our cops will keep checking the area. Please talk to them or call 101 to report any information or concerns you may have about the occurrence.”
