Kilmarnock’s man death treated as ‘suspicious’

The man’s death in Kilmarnock is being investigated by detectives as “suspicious.”

Early on Friday morning, it is thought that Robert Fleming, 21, got into a fight outside of Baker’s nightclub in Kilmarnock.

After that, he headed home, and at 5:07 a.m., his body was discovered on the town’s Lammermuir Road.

After a post-mortem examination, Police Scotland are attempting to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to the officers, between 12:30 and 1:00, he was a part of an altercation outside of Baker’s nightclub on John Finnie Street in Kilmarnock.

He is thought to have returned home after the incident.

Authorities have called for witnesses to the incident and are looking through local CCTV footage.

“We know from CCTV images at that location that there were several people outside the nightclub and in the street,” Det Insp. George McAllister stated.

“There were many cars going by on the road as well. Many of these individuals would have likely seen Robert being attacked, in my opinion. I’m pleading with them to approach us and talk. The details they could offer could be extremely important to our inquiry as we start to piece together the circumstances surrounding this young man’s death.”

Kilmarnock Police are asking anyone with information to get in touch with them.
