Man arrested and jailed for murder in Kilmarnock

In relation to a man’s death in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, a man has been detained and prosecuted.

Following what is believed to have been a protracted attack at a residence in Largs, Alan Lawson, 36, passed away in a hospital earlier this month.

After being held against his will in a home in Largs, it is thought that he was brought back to his Saltcoats residence; purported footage of the assault has been making the rounds on Snapchat.

The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald was informed by a neighbour: “No one I’ve talked to heard anything.” It’s utterly awful.

Alan wasn’t well-known to any of the neighbours, in my opinion. Although he stayed to himself, he would always greet you on the street.

“He was a decent neighbour who was quiet. He knocked on our home after his phone died lately, asking if we could help.”

“A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Alan Lawson (36), from Saltcoats,” a police statement stated. Following an attack at a residence on Alexander Avenue, Largs, over the course of the weekend of Saturday, February 3, 2024, Mr. Lawson passed away in the hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

“The 29-year-old man is due at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
