Man dies after being attacked from behind in Kilmarnock*

Between 5pm and 6pm, the man was approached from behind and assaulted on Welbeck Street.

Detectives are appealing for information after a 36-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Kilmarnock on Thursday, 21 March.

Between 5pm and 6pm, the man was approached from behind and assaulted on Welbeck Street.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Detective Sergeant Graham Cuthill said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and gather more information to identify the person responsible for this attack.

“Anyone who was in the area of Welbeck Street around the times stated is asked to contact us. We would also appeal to drivers with dashcam to check their footage and get in touch if they hold anything relevant. Please contact us through 101 quoting incident number 2726.”
