Man,43 discovered dead after horror crash on same road miles apart

A 43-year-old man has passed away following the incident

Police are seeking information following a fatal crash on the A76 just south of the B713 Catrine junction.

The event occurred just hours after a 34-year-old man died in a deadly crash on the A76 between Kilmarnock and Mauchline at approximately 6.55 p.m.

Around 10.15pm last night, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash involving a blue Ford Fiesta Zetec, which had left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the car, a 43-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to allow for investigation to take place and fully reopened around 9.30am.

Sergeant Martin Cunningham of Irvine Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our investigation into the entire facts is ongoing, and we are requesting that anyone who was in the area and observed the incident contact us.

“I’d also like to ask anyone who was driving in the vicinity and may have dashcam film to contact us.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 4200 of 20 May, 2024.”
