A murder investigation is under way after the death of a 38-year-old man at his home in Kilmarnock.
At 23:10 on Saturday, according to the police, two males broke into a house in the town’s Hareshaw Gardens and attacked Jason Bryden, also known as Jason Dunlop.
After being transported to Crosshouse Hospital, he passed away early on Tuesday morning from his wounds.
“At this time, I would urge anyone who was in the area of Hareshaw Gardens around the time of the incident on Saturday night to contact police as soon as possible,” stated Detective Inspector David Moran of Police Scotland’s major investigations team. “You may witness this attack take place or you may have any information that may assist our investigation.”
Officers are doing door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV. They can call witnesses in appeal.
Although you may not believe that the information you have is much, it may be crucial to our larger inquiry in identifying the perpetrators.”
Kilmarnock area commander Chief Inspector Linda Jones continued, saying, “I recognise that the public may have worries following this tragedy.
“Over the next few days, uniformed officers will continue to maintain an increased police presence throughout Onthank, I would like to reassure the community. This is to make it possible for members of the neighbourhood to talk to police about any worries they may have and to give them information.”
