Police empty Kilmarnock town centre building after cannabis raid’

Uniformed and forensic officers remained at the scene for several hours after they uncovered a cannabis farm in Kilmarnock town centre.

Specialised police were seen yesterday, only hours after a significant cannabis raid that resulted in seven arrests, emptying a Kilmarnock building.

After stopping an operation early on Thursday morning, uniformed and forensic cops swept out a unit on Sandbed Lane, staying at the scene for several hours.

King Street, the town’s major street, was blocked off by numerous police cars and vans.

Following the discovery of a cannabis plantation, police stated Wednesday that they had taken seven persons into custody.

Images captured at the location reveal a lot of activity. While another plain-clothed police is seen carrying smaller, clear items, one officer is seen carrying a huge holdall bag.

Video footage also showed forensic teams getting ready to enter the unit. Officers in white forensic suits could be seen donning blue latex gloves as they got ready to gather further evidence. Although the cultivation is believed to be extensive, the exact size of the operation was not disclosed by the police.

“Officers are in attendance at King Street, Kilmarnock, following the discovery of a cannabis cultivation site,” a Police Scotland spokesperson stated yesterday.

There are limitations on King Street and Sandbed Lane, but local access is still possible. There have been seven arrests, and investigations are still ongoing.”
