Project Bridge replacement on kilmarnock Road shut down

Works are set to take place from Sunday, April 21 until Tuesday, May 28.

Works to replace a bridge parapet on the A77 at Whatriggs Road Overbridge, two miles south of Kilmarnock, will kick off this weekend.

The works will take place at Whatriggs Road under a total closure of the road over the A77 from Sunday, April 21 until Tuesday, May 28. The road closure is to facilitate the safe demolition of the concrete cope. A signed diversion will be in operation.

The scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the parapet structure and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

Traffic will be diverted along the A76 westbound to Bellfield Interchange where it will take the third exit on the roundabout to Queens Drive and turn left on to the B7072 (Hurlford Road). Traffic will then turn left on to New Street and continue until Whatriggs Road and turn right at the roundabout on to Merrick Road. Traffic will then be able to turn left to join Whatriggs Road, where the diversion ends.

There will also be alternating nighttime lane closures on the north and south bound carriageways of the A77 from Wednesday, April 24 until Tuesday, April 30.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
