Road closed as man pronounced dead on scene of car crash in Kilmarnock

A man has died following a car crash between Girvan and Dailly which left a road closed for 12 hours.

Emergency services were called to an unnamed road east of the B734 at around 7.30pm last night Sunday, July 28) following the incident which involved a green Land Rover Defender.

A 37-year-old man, the driver of the Land Rover, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dash cam footage around the time of the incident to come forward.

The road was closed for almost 12 hours to allow investigations to be carried out and re-opened around 7.45am this morning (Sunday, July 28).

Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around that time and who may have dash cam footage or who may have seen the car prior to the crash to contact us.”
