Seven men appear in court charged in connection with Kilmarnock farm’

The seven accused each face charges relating to production of controlled drugs and interfering with an electric meter

Seven men have entered the courtroom to face charges related to a cannabis plantation located in Kilmarnock.

During a raid on a King Street property last Thursday, police found a grow valued at approximately £150,000.

The next day, Friday, March 8, a group of guys who had been arrested all showed up before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

With general addresses in London, Oxford, and Slough, six of the males are English.

Albert Haxhia, 35, of Oxford; Dorjan Kulla, 25, of London; Sokol Lufi, 37, of Oxford; Alex Salvesen, 38, of Oxford; Simon Samuel, 23, of Oxford; Razaie Wahidulla, 30, of Slough; and Andrew Williams, 51, of Oxford (no residence indicated) were the defendants who made an appearance on Friday.

All the men face charges in relation to producing a controlled drug with each facing two charges of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 S4 (2) (A) and Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 S4 (3)(B).

Additionally, the Electricity Act of 1989, Section 31, which deals with tampering with metres, charges each of the guys.

A second charge under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, S5 (2), pertains to Mr. Wahidulla’s possession of a restricted substance.

None of the males offered a plea. Mr. Haxhia, Mr. Kulla, and Mr. Lufi were detained for additional investigation and will appear in court the following week.

Bail was granted for Mr. Salvesen, Mr. Samuel, Mr. Wahidulla, and Mr. Williams. Their upcoming appearance has to be verified.

The primary shopping area in Kilmarnock was closed by police as they began investigating the cannabis operation.

At 4 a.m. on Thursday, reports of suspicious activities led the officers to become aware of the plants.

Later on Thursday, forensic teams were observed leaving the unit while a sizable police presence persisted at the location.

In addition, Scottish Fire and Rescue was contacted; a water rescue team was dispatched but then withdrawn.

Seven males have been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery of a substantial cannabis plantation within a disused building in King Street, Kilmarnock’, a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

“On Thursday, March 7, 2024, at around 4 a.m., officers were alerted to a report of suspicious behaviour in the vicinity. That is when they made the discovery.

“While investigations are still on to determine the exact amount recovered, the plants discovered inside the structure are thought to be worth up to £150,000 on the open market.

The seven men are scheduled to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, March 8, 2024, and the Procurator Fiscal will receive a report following their appearance.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service released the following statement: “On Thursday, March 7, at 7:35 a.m., we received an alert to assist our partners in King Street, Kilmarnock.

“Two appliances and two specialised units were dispatched by Operations Control to the scene; the crews left after making sure the area was secure.”
