Sex attack on woman with baby in Dean Park, Kilmarnock

Police are hunting a man who indecently assaulted a woman in a park while she was with her five-month-old child.

A man asked the 25-year-old mother, who was sitting in Kilmarnock’s Dean Park with her infant in a pram, what time it was.

Then, at 11:30 on Sunday, he seized her and started undressing before being interrupted by a dog walker.

The individual had dark features, was characterised by the police as Asian, and had a “dirty appearance”.

His black hair was combed forward and matted. He was dressed in a dark blue Nike training jacket or top with a white Nike tick on the left side.

‘Frightening experience’

The dude also had on white trainers with big looped laces and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three stripes down the leg. He was wearing heavy, padded black hiking gloves.

The woman left the event severely shaken but unharmed.

“This was a very frightening experience indeed for this young mum who was enjoying a morning visit to the park with her young baby,” stated Strathclyde Police Det Insp. Scott McClelland.

“The situation is still being thoroughly investigated. I do want to reassure the public, though, that this kind of situation is uncommon.

“We are continuing to search the area and would like to appeal to anyone who may have information to contact us.”

“We know that the man was disturbed during his attack by a particular dog walker calling for their pet, by the name of Brodie,” Det Insp McClelland continued.

“I would like to appeal to the owner of that dog who was in the park at the time of incident, as they may have important information that may be able to help us with our enquiries.”
