Police are trying to trace a man who raped a 17-year-old woman in a Kilmarnock park.

Around 22:35 on Sunday, the victim left the Fanny by Gaslight tavern on West George Street and headed towards Portland Street with the suspect.

After that, they travelled to Kay Park, the location of the teen’s rape.

White, between the ages of 20 and 25, around 6 feet tall, with red hair and a regional accent, is how the suspect is characterised. He had on blue jeans and a dark red top.

According to police, the woman went to Strawberrybank Road following the attack and called in the alarm.

‘Extensive inquiries’

After that, passersby strolled her home. The woman didn’t need to be admitted to the hospital.

Det Insp Graham Duncan of Police Scotland stated: “At this moment, there are many investigations being conducted to identify the male culprit.

“We are investigating the CCTV footage, and we are aware that several individuals were outside the bar when the victim left.”

“They may have noticed her walking off with the suspect and I would urge them to come forward.”

“I would urge anyone who was in Fanny by Gaslight on Sunday evening or in the vicinity of Kay Park between 2200 hours and midnight to speak with police,” Det Insp Duncan continued.

“Meantime, additional patrols are in the area and members of the public are encouraged to speak to officers if they have any information or concerns.”
