A TEENAGE boy who was held in custody for the attempted killing of a young man who later died following a disturbance in Kilwinning last month has now been charged with murder.
The 17-year-old Kilwinning resident, who is not allowed to be identified legally due to his age, was charged with Daryll Wright’s murder on Thursday, June 3, when he appeared in court for a full committal hearing. He was released on bond after failing to submit a plea.
It comes after the events of Saturday, May 22, when police were notified of a disturbance in a lane behind Ladyford Avenue in the town at about 2:30 in the morning.
When emergency personnel arrived, Coatbridge resident Daryll, pictured on the left, was
transferred to Crosshouse Hospital, where on Monday, May 24, he passed away.
On Tuesday, May 25, the Kilwinning man showed up before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court. He was initially accused of attempting murder.
