King’s Lynn Town FC secure momentous milestone.

For MD44, Lynn took on play-off contender Chorley; a victory would have virtually assured Lynn’s survival. At Victory Park, the Magpies prevailed 3-1 in the rematch after goals from Johnson and Hazlehurst overturned a Coulson equaliser in the first half.

Just one and a half minutes into the match, Devonport created Lynn’s first opportunity when a lucky deflection allowed Hargreaves to cut the ball back to the forward. But his shot found its way easily into Urwin’s hands.

The majority of Lynn’s opportunities persisted during the first half. Dylan Crowe received the game’s first booking.

Just before the half, Margetts appeared to have given Lynn the lead, but the linesman’s flag prevented it. Despite the three extra minutes, there was no goal scored by either team.

Following the half, Kyle McFadden quickly put the Linnets ahead with his second goal of the game after getting on the end of a corner.

Ellis’ foul on Margetts resulted in his second booking of the match.

Shortly after, the forward was given a booking for a soft foul.

Maguire was tripped in the box just before the hour mark, which gave the visitors the advantage in penalties. To Lynn’s delight, though, Paul Jones stopped both the penalty kick and the subsequent attempt to keep them ahead.

A few minutes later, Jones was called upon once more, producing a superb stop to deny Johnson in a one-on-one.

The next ten minutes saw three bookings: Jones for wasting time, Hargreaves for contesting a 50/50, and Calveley for fouling Morrison.

As the game came to an end, Owen Devonport and Jonny Margetts were replaced by Bartosz Cybulski and Gabriel Rogers.

With just seconds remaining in the 90, Paul Jones produced another excellent save to thwart a long-range attempt from Ubaezuono.

After six more minutes, Lynn didn’t give up and scored three more crucial points.
