Man in 70s dies after being hit by a hit and run car in Kings Lynn

The man was hit by a silver BMW 530i at the junction of St James Road and Blackfriars Street in King’s Lynn at 9.05am in the early hours of the day.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the BMW, a man in his 20s, on the  suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving refused to stop at the scene of the accident but was later areested by the police.

He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Station for questioning and later released under investigation.

The road was temporary closed while emergency services attended the incident and was reopened later .

Officers are keen to speak to a woman who may have been speaking to the victim immediately before the collision in the hope that she may know some information that could be relevant to the investigation.

She was wearing a sleeveless patterned dress, glasses, sandals and carrying a large red bag.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with Norfolk Constabulary
