After a collision near a school, an 80-year-old woman is fighting for her life in a hospital.
Following a report of a collision close to Kirkham Grammar School, emergency personnel converged on Kirkham’s A583 Blackpool Road. According to Lancashire Constabulary, their officers discovered that an Isuzu Grafter Box van and a Toyota Aygo automobile had collided.
The 80-year-old woman who was operating the Toyota sustained “serious injuries” and is currently listed as critically ill in the hospital. The incident occurred at 11.30 am, and it caused several hours of road closures in both directions.
Witnesses reported that an air ambulance had also touched down at the location. From the Ribby Roundabout to the intersection of Freckleton Road, the area was closed off.
No additional injuries were reported, and no one was taken into custody. Witnesses and video are now being sought by the police.
“If you witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage from the area around the time, please contact police,” a force spokesperson said in a statement last night.
